Published on Feb 03, 2022 04:36 PM IST

  • A massive controversy has now erupted after China chose Qi Fabao - PLA regiment commander who was a part of the Chinese forces during the deadly Galwan clashes in June 2020, as the torchbearer for the 3-day relay event at Beijing Winter Olympics. A top senator of the United States has panned China and called the move shameful. Senator Jim Risch, a Republican who is a Ranking Member of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee said that the US will continue to support the sovereignty of India. As per Chinese reports, Qi Fabao was seriously wounded during the 2020 border clash with Indian troops in the Galwan Valley. 20 Indian soldiers were martyred in one of the deadliest such incidents and as per an Australian report over 40 Chinese soldiers were killed. By honouring Qi Fabao as a hero, watch how China is using him in 'Psychological Warfare Operations' against India.
