Following the terrorist attack at the Moscow mall which killed over 140 people, it was widely reported that the assailants were high on a drug called Captagon, or the 'jihad pill'. Similar reports had emerged after Hamas' surprise attack on Israel on October 7, 2023. Captagon is often called terrorist group ISIS' favourite drug. Ironically, the production and illegal distribution of the drug has been linked to Iran - which is often attacked by ISIS - and another one of Russian President Vladimir Putin's West Asia allies.
