One of Congress’ biggest faces in Uttar Pradesh, Raj Babbar has now fuelled talks of switching from the party through his cryptic tweets. Toeing a different line than his party colleagues on the recent controversy over Padma Bhushan to another tall figure in Congress, Gulam Nabi Azad, Babbar came out in his support. Through a string of tweets Raj Babbar said, “The importance of the award is when the opposition party honors the achievements of a leader - people can fulfill any wish in their government.” He then went on to add that the ongoing debate about Padma Bhushan is unnecessary. His remarks came after Congress leaders like Jairam Ramesh and Veerappa Moily slammed the Modi government and criticized Azad for being honoured. The latest tweets by Raj Babbar also come at a time when there is a speculation that he may switch to the Samajwadi Party ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.
