Tibetans dare China to let Dalai Lama visit; leader thanks PM Modi for support

President of the Tibetan government-in-exile, also called the Central Tibetan Administration, appealed to China to let spiritual leader Dalai Lama visit the country. The monk, who turned 86 years old on July 6, has expressed a wish to do the Wutai Shan pilgrimage in China, and also visit his birthplace Lhasa. The Dalai Lama had to escape Tibet in 1959 due to Chinese occupation and persecution. He was subsequently given refuge in India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi's public announcement of his phone call with the top monk was hailed by the CTA president. Watch the full video for more.
