Param Bir Singh quizzed in extortion case; reappears after months in 'hiding'

Former Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh resurfaced today in the Maharashtra capital and appeared before the crime branch for questioning in the extortion case. Reports say Param Bir was quizzed for about 7 hours by the crime branch. PTI reported that Singh flew in from Chandigarh. The IPS officer, who is facing several extortion cases in Maharashtra has not reported to work since May this year, after his transfer from the post of Mumbai police commissioner and his subsequent allegations of corruption against then Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh. The Supreme Court has granted Singh protection from arrest. Watch this report.
