Jaishankar's Intervention Sought As New York Police Stop Sikh Trooper From Growing Beard

The Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) has written a letter to India's ambassador to the U.S. and sought the intervention of External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar after reports of a Sikh trooper being denied permission to grow his beard by New York Police Department. SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami said the NYPD policy of stopping a Sikh policeman from growing a beard sighting safety issues was not rational.
