As crucial Assembly elections near in Uttar Pradesh, the poll campaign is increasingly getting polarised with BJP leaders invoking Jinnah, Mathura and skull cap to target the secular parties in a bid garner the support of the majority community. Earlier this month, U.P deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya called for the construction of a grand temple in Mathura, the birthplace of Lord Krishna, at a disputed location which also houses an ancient Mughal era mosque. In an interview to Hindustan Times, Maurya denied the charge of polarising the U.P poll campaign and said they want vikaas of Mathura, in reference to his call for temple construction. But in its bid to target secular politics, is BJP indulging in communal politics and dog whistling? Listen in to what U.P Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya has to say.
