India bats for own trade policy; Modi govt opts out of deal with U.S-led group

In a major 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' push, India has batted for an independent trade policy. India refrained from joining the fourth pillar of trade of U.S-led Indo-Pacific Economic Framework . As per Reuters, Modi government's decision to opt out of negotiations with the U.S-led group of Asian nations came in India's bid to avoid easing access to its markets via a multi-country deal. India was the only participant in the 14-nation forum that didn’t sign the group’s negotiation track on trade in Los Angeles last week. Watch this video for more details.
