Major 'security lapse' as PM's convoy stuck on flyover in Punjab

PM Modi's first rally in poll-bound Punjab cancelled after major security breach. As per the plan, PM Modi was meant to go to Hussainiwala in a chopper, but the weather conditions didn't permit timely departure. A decision was then taken that PM Modi will visit the martyrs' memorial via road. The government has stated that the decision on road travel was taken only after the Punjab Top Cop confirmed security arrangements. Around 30km away from the memorial, when PM Modi's convoy reached a flyover, it was found that the road was blocked by protesters. The Union Home Ministry has stated that 'PM Modi was stuck on the flyover for 15-20 minutes'. After the security lapse, the Union Home Ministry has asked the Punjab govt to fix accountability, take action.
