'My Chapter in G-23 Over': Kapil Sibal on Cong exit, political future
Published on May 25, 2022 10:04 PM IST
Soon after filing his nomination for an independent Rajya Sabha member of Parliament backed by Samajwadi Party, Kapil Sibal announced that he had quit the Congress Party on May 16. This marks the exit of one of the biggest critics that the Congress Party had within. Sibal had been leading the group of 23 leaders within the party since August 2020, who wanted wide ranging reform like elections to every post. In recent interviews, he also hit out directly at the Gandhi family, blaming them for the Congress' poor performance in polls. Speaking to HT's Sunetra Choudhury, Sibal confirmed that he met with party president Sonia Gandhi and that he would remain independent.
