Urvashi Dholakia: I’m glad Komolika Basu is still embedded in people’s minds
Actor Urvashi Dholakia is back on TV, in the show Chandrakanta. She hopes that her character becomes as popular as Komolika Basu in Kasautii Zindagi Kay.
Actor Urvashi Dholakia, who played the role of Komolika Basu in the television show, Kasautii Zindagii Kay, more than a decade ago,is still remembered for her negative portrayal on-screen. The actor has made a comeback on TV with the show Chandrakanta and hopes that she will get the same recognition this time too.
“It has been 16 years now, and the character [Komolika] is still embedded in people’s minds. I hope that all my other characters also get embedded in the same way. It is such an achievement for me that fans still remember my role and talk to me about it even today,” says Urvashi.

Komolika isn’t the only negative role that Urvashi has played on TV. The actor has played a character with shades of grey in another show called Apno Ke Liye Geeta Ka Dharmayudh. “My fans often tell me to take on more positive roles. Maybe in time, this side of me will also be noticed. Ekta [Kapoor, producer] has already done a great job of showing my comic as well as negative side,” says Urvashi, who won reality show Bigg Boss, season 6.

The actor was last seen in the show Badi Door Se Aaye Hai in 2015. Talking about this hiatus from the small screen, Urvashi says that she was not offered anything worthwhile. “There were some shows where I was not at all convinced about the character I was being offered. And there were others, where we did set meetings up, but things didn’t work out,” she says. She feels that it’s important in what manner an actor is offered a role. “Most of the time, you just get a call about the role and then that’s all. I think it’s unfair to treat actors like this.”
