The Kapil Sharma Show: Kiku Sharda leaves Badhaai Ho’s Gajraj Rao red-faced as Neena Gupta can’t stop laughing

The hit husband-and-wife pair of the film Badhaai Ho, Gajraj Rao and Neena Gupta, shot for an episode of The Kapil Sharma Show and a promo of the episode is online. Neena and Gajraj were accompanied by film’s director Amit Sharma to the TV show’s sets.

Sharing the clip, Neena wrote: “Bas hasti he reh gayi #badhaaiho #thekapilsharmashow #neenagupta #kapilsharma.”

In a short clip, shared by Neena on Instagram, comedian Kiku Sharda can be seen pulling the leg of Gajraj Rao. Kiku says: “Gajraj Rao ji, mujhe aap naam bahot pasand aaya. Gaj matlab haathi (elephant). Haathi jo hota hai, woh uttpaatt machaata hai. Film mein, dekhiye, aap ne bhi machaa diya.” As Neena Gupta, judge Archana Puran Singh and rest of the audience burst out laughing, an embarrassed Gajraj covers his face.

While Neena is dressed in a white flowing asymmetrical gown, Gajraj keeps it simple in a blue shirt, jacket and a pair of jeans. 2018’s release Badhaai Ho was a story of the middle class, middle-aged Delhi couple, with two grown-up sons, who find themselves in an unusual situation, when Neena falls pregnant with their third child. Ayushmann Khurrana plays their conflicted elder son while Sanya Malhotra plays his supportive girlfriend. The film, made on an estimated budget of Rs 29 crore, went on to make an estimated Rs 221.44 crores worldwide, much to the surprise of its makers and the audience in general. The film was particularly praised for making the characters of Neena and Gajraj as its central ones and not those of the younger stars.

The film and its lead cast went on to win major awards. Neena had, in fact, taken to Instagram to share her joy at winning her first-ever Filmfare Award. She had written: “Mera pehla @filmfare award for #BadhaaiHo #filmfareawards.”
