Ravi Dubey: I don’t want to take up projects only because they’re good for my bank account

Jamai Raja actor Ravi Dubey relies on his gut feeling while taking up new projects and what matters to him more is how exciting the show is and not the remuneration it offers.

As an artist, Ravi Dubey enjoys taking up different shows to explore his talent — as an actor, dancer, or a host. In his career spanning more than a decade, the actor has been a part of several TV shows, both fiction and non-fiction. Lately, he has tried his hand at anchoring, too. While choosing a show, the actor says that the story, concept and his part in the show matters to him more than the remuneration that comes along.

Ravi Dubey is at the moment hosting the show Sabse Smart Kaun.

“I avoid repeating myself, and choose projects accordingly. If I don’t get to do anything new, I loose interest easily. For me, the story and my character matter more than the money being offered. I don’t want to take decisions because they are good for my bank account. Whenever I am offered something new, I rely on my gut feeling to decide my next move. I don’t intellectualise or rationalise things too much,” says the actor, as he talks about what encourages him to diversify when it comes to signing new projects.

Ravi, who is at the moment hosting a TV show, started his journey in showbiz playing the parallel lead in Stree... Teri Kahaani. He followed it up with a string of successful fiction shows such as Ranbir Rano, 12/24 Karol Bagh, Saas Bina Sasural, Jamai Raja, and Khatron Ke Khiladi and also tried his hand at non-fiction shows including Nach Baliye and Comedy Circus. Despite being a part of the TV industry for long, Ravi shares that even today, whenever he signs a new venture, he feels liked an “excited newcomer.”

He elaborates, “The excitement remains till the end. The enthusiasm of going to work every day motivates me to put my best foot forward. Also, till now I’ve done quite a number of infinite fictions, so, I feel more drawn towards finite shows [now].I think when you know the start point and end point of a project, you can give your creative best. So, at this point in my career, I want to do a few finite shows before going back to the infinite format unless I am offered something really interesting. This is a personal choice, and doesn’t have anything to do with anybody else.”
