People can't tell me I am wrong just because of my age: Pratyusha Banerjee

Despite her eviction from Bigg Boss 7 (BB), Pratyusha Banerjee is all smiles.

"My agenda was to get experience. For me, this was work, but of a different kind. I wanted to show the world the real Pratyusha," says the 22-year-old actor, who became a darling of the masses with her portrayal of Anandi in the popular show, Balika Vadhu.

Though host Salman Khan called her immature and naïve at times, she doesn’t feel the show has affected her career adversely. "People are bound to comment, and that means they are following me. If they hadn’t commented, I’d think maybe I wasn’t noticed," she quips, adding that it was tough being the youngest person on the

show

.

"Everybody thinks you’re wrong, and that you’re a kid and, hence, you should shut up. Such reactions hurt me. I can think for myself. Just because people are older, they don’t have the right to tell you what’s right and wrong. People want to see me, and I’m getting paid to be there, so I don’t think age should be an issue. However, I think I came back from the show feeling mature."

, she had filed a case against her boyfriend Makrand Malhotra for misbehaving with her and her father. Rumour had it that it was all a PR exercise and that Makrand, too, would enter the

show

later.

He, eventually, did not. "I guess it’s good that people know the truth. I have broken up with him," she says. But their fall-out didn’t stop her from talking about him on the show. "I have known him for so long, and just because I have broken up with him it doesn’t mean that I have forgotten him. I love him, so obviously I’ll speak about him,” she justifies.

Does she plan to patch things up with him? "No. I have no plans of getting back with him. I’m happy being single."
