I don’t know what’s next: Koel Purie Rinchet

A popular TV chat show host and actor, she’s always been on her toes. But eight-month-pregnant Koel Purie Rinchet, 33, is enjoying the fact that for once in her life, she has no plans of what’s next!

Her talk show — On The Couch With Koel — that she’s been hosting for three and a half years now, ends tonight. “Being pregnant, I’m in the happiest phase of my life right now. It’s a moment of celebration and not hiding away, so I wanted to be on camera for as long as I could, but now seems like a good time to call it the end,” says Koel, adding, “The finale episode will be a recap of the best moments on the show, including some behind the scenes action.”

Koel, who has interviewed a barrage of stars, says filmmaker James Cameron has been her favourite guest. “I interviewed him a month after Avatar had released. It was a magical moment.”

And, while she found actor Shah Rukh Khan the easiest to interview, the toughest one was actor Salman Khan. “Shah Rukh is spontaneous, he loves to talk. Salman, on the other hand, gives monosyllabic answers and takes time to open up,” she says.

Of late, many actors have turned hosts with their chat shows. Her favourite is Preity Zinta. “I loved her in the show (Up Close & Personal with PZ). It was very personal and yet not too revealing,” says Koel.

Shift the topic to husband Laurent Rinchet, and the couple’s plans for the baby and she says: “The couch has been my baby for so long that my own baby hasn’t even entered my radar yet.”
