The sweltering Indian summer takes the fun out of our dressing up game. We often end up wearing sloppy T-shirts and loose pyjamas, as comfort is our primary concern. But dressing frumpy in summer can be depressing, while putting in some effort can pep up your mood. When the sun unleashes it fury, counter it with breathable, breezy fabrics and soothing hues.

“I recommend muted and powdered pastels instead of something poppy bright for summer dressing. Avoid fitted clothes and go for loose and breezy fabrics. But that doesn’t mean that you compromise on style,” says designer Gaurav Khanijo.

Summer can be super boring if you dress down, says designer Dhruv Vaish. “Dressing well can be an instant mood lifter. It’s always fun to mix up hues and prints. We need to break the monotony and go for cheerful, cooling garments,” says designer Dhruv Vaish. Here’s some quick inspiration to help you beat the heat in style.

Sheer is the way to be

See-through is the hottest trend of the season. You can make an impact like our model Prince Khurana, who is wearing a sheer half-sleeved shirt with floral applique and summer striped pants. It’s a perfect outfit for any pool party. Team it with strappy sandals to complete the look.

Go dreamy in powdery hues

Pastels will always remain a summer mainstay. What’s better than wearing pastel shades in something as interesting as a jumpsuit. If tailored in the right way, jumpsuits look really flattering on men. Our model Siddharth Kapila is wearing a light pink jumpsuit with a grey striped half-sleeved shirt inside for that perfect layering. You can complement this look with either sneakers or sandals.

Tone-on-tone is perfect

Earthy and neutral tones in summer give a laid-back and relaxed feel. Teaming up shirt and trousers of the same shades makes it even more interesting. Our model Siddharth Kapila is wearing a Mandarin collar shirt with trousers featuring drawstrings. Finish off the look with see-through Oxfords.

Draped pants are a must-have

Our model Kunal Sareen is wearing a mauve shirt with draped pants that have side pleats with a centre cowl. A pair of sandals add that comfy vibe to the look. It’s perfect Friday dressing for work. Don’t forget to go for the classic quiff with this look.

Flower power

Inject flower power into your outfit like our model Kunal Sareen, who is wearing pleated pants teamed with a chequered shirt in pastels and a half-sleeved outwear with an embroidered rose on the pocket. Wear it for a brunch and you are set to bag compliments.

White is always right

White is a summer staple and you can always reinvent white in new, fun ways. Throw in interesting prints to take boredom out of whites. Our model Asif Khan is wearing a printed kurta with white Patiala pyjamas. Your summer wedding look is sorted with this attire. Wear it for any pre-wedding event.

Let’s mesh up

Designers are experimenting a lot with mesh. While mesh jackets and shirts have been popular, the new way to wear sheer is a pair of mesh trousers. Our model Nikhil Gupta sports mesh pants with a navy blue jacket.
