Tokyo Olympics Live Updates Day 5: The fifth day was a lot better for the Indians as boxer Pooja Rani stormed into the quarterfinals. Moreover, archer Deepika Kumari and shuttler PV Sindhu made the pre-quarterfinals. However, the campaigns of B Sai Praneeth, Tarundeep Rai, and Pravin Jadhav ended.

Tokyo Olympics Highlights Day 5: PV Sindhu reached the Round of 16 after beating Hong Kong’s Yi Ngan Cheung 21-9, 21-16 on Day 5 of the Tokyo Olympics. Boxer Pooja Rani began her campaign in style by beating Algeria's Ichrak Chaib 5-0 to advance to the quarterfinals. Deepika Kumari advanced to the pre-quarterfinals. in the archery women's singles event. Earlier, India's women's hockey team lost 1-4 to Great Britain in their Pool A match. Meanwhile, Archer Tarundeep Rai was eliminated by Israel's Itay Shanny in the men's singles archery. Rowers Arjun Lal Jat and Arvind Singh failed to qualify for the men's lightweight double sculls final. Hello and welcome to our live blog on Day 5 of the Tokyo Olympics. Day 4 proved to be yet another disappointing day for the Indians. Except for the men's hockey team (that beat Spain 3-0 in their Pool A match) and Lovlina Borgohain making the quarterfinals, all the other Indian athletes failed to register wins. Day 5, however, will see a flurry of singles events. Shuttlers PV Sindhu and B Sai Praneeth will resume their campaign, while boxer Pooja Rani will take to the ring for the first time in the Games. Archers Tarundeep Rai, Deepika Kumari, and Pravin Jadhav will also look to nail their aims at the range today.
