Supermoon 2023: ‘Sturgeon moon’ visible today. What is it? When is next 'blue moon’?

On August 1, a supermoon will occur, marking the second full supermoon of the month. Supermoons happen when the moon is at its closest point to Earth in its orbit. This year, there will be a total of 13 supermoons, with the next one occurring on August 31. The full moon in August is also known as the "sturgeon moon" because of the abundance of sturgeon fish found in the Great Lakes during this time. In India, the supermoon will be at its peak at 12:02 am on August 2.
