NASA's OSIRIS-REx mission set for historic asteroid Bennu sample return next week

NASA's OSIRIS-REx mission is set to return samples from the asteroid Bennu on September 24, 2023. Bennu is a potentially hazardous asteroid that has a small chance of colliding with Earth in the next 300 years. The spacecraft will land in Utah and scientists are preparing for its return by conducting tests and aligning its course. The mission will also involve a rendezvous with another potentially dangerous asteroid, Apophis, in 2029. Queen guitarist Brian May contributed to the mission by creating 3D images of Bennu's surface. Bennu is a loose collection of rocks with a significant boulder at its south pole.
