Tarun Majumdar returns to direction after a gap of eight years

Come April and veteran filmmaker Tarun Majumdar, who had introduced Moushumi Chatterjee to films with Balika Badhu, will start shooting his new Bengali film, Bhalobasar Baari (Loves Little Nest), after a gap of eight years.

He has to his credit films such as Shriman Prithviraj, Ganadevata, Dadar Kirti and Sansar Simante.

Majumdar's last film, Chander Bari (2007), was based on a Bengali story written by Prochet Gupta and starred Rituparna Sengupta in the lead. His new film, too, is based on a story by Gupta and has the actor in the lead. Recently, the director, along with Rituparna, was present at the music recording session of the film. Santanu Basu is the film's music director.

The story is about Buli, the eldest daughter of Bhabatosh, a middle-aged clerk of a jute mill, who suddenly loses his job. Buli takes up a job at a travel agency. There she meets Kalyan, who is also a victim of a personal tragedy. But he doesn't let anybody know of his personal pain and is a jovial man.

The film highlights the story of two strugglers and how they console each other in their journey.

Rituparna Sengupta has always mentioned in interviews how deeply she feels about doing films with the National Award-winning director, be it Majumdar's film Alo (2003) or Chander Bari. Alo was one of the biggest hits of 2003.

The actor is currently in Singapore on a personal trip and will be back in Kolkata on March 21.
