Silambarasan and Gautham Karthik join hands for Tamil remake of Mufti
Silambarasan and Gautham Karthik will star in the Tamil remake of Kannada hit Mufti. The film will be produced by Studio Green.
Actors Silambarasan (STR) and Gautham Karthik are all set to join hands for the first time for upcoming yet-untitled Tamil remake of Kannada blockbuster Mufti. The project will be produced by Studio Green. The announcement was made by the production house via a tweet.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to be teaming up with STR for the first time. A mega budget action thriller starring STR and Gautham Karthik. Directed by super talented Narthan.” Writer-lyricist Madhan Karky is believed to have been roped in to write the dialogues.

This project is the official remake of recent Kannada blockbuster Mufti, which starred Shivrajkumar, Muralist, Shanvi Srivastav and Chaya Singh. The film revolves around a police officer, played by Srimurali, who goes head to head with an underworld boss, played by Shivrajkumar.
The film was directed by Narthan, who has been signed to helm the remake as well. The industry grapevine is that STR has been signed to play the underworld boss while Gautham Karthik will reprise Srimurali’s role of a police officer.
The makers are yet to sign the rest of the cast and crew. However, sources have confirmed that the regular shooting will commence from June or July. Meanwhile, Gautham Karthik, who currently awaits the release of Devarattam, also has a film titled Chella Pillai in his kitty.
STR was last seen in Sundar C’s Vantha Rajavathaan Varuven. He currently has Venkat Prabhu’s Manaadu in his kitty, which is expected to go on the floors in the next few months. Kalyani Priyadarshan was recently signed as the leading lady for this project.
