, who recently won the for best director for Chatushkone, says that he referred to Academy Award-winning sound designer 's autobiography Sounding Off while working on his new Bengali film, Nirbaak (Speechless).
"Nirbaak deals with the unspoken nature of love, so I was trying to make a tree, a city and a dog communicate through sound. I have picked up points from Resul's autobiography and have tried to use it in Nirbaak," says the director of Jaatiswar, who met the Oscar-winner at a Kolkata event on Monday.
The 22 e Srabon director also says he was keen on working with the Pookutty on his film Rajkahini (which is presently in the dubbing stage), but due to a problem in logistics the deal couldn't be worked out. "We were supposed to work together in Rajkahaani but that didn't happen. Hopefully, we are going to work together soon. Keeping in mind the great things Resul has revealed in his autobiography, anyone who is keen on sound designing, should read it. It did help me a lot while making Nirbaak," says Mukherji.
Sushmita Sen makes her Bengali film debut with Nirbaak.
