CM in poll mode, tells people to be wary of BJP’s false promises

Even though the date for the assembly elections is yet to be formally announced, chief minister Heman Soren kicked off an informal poll campaign on Tuesday.

The CM addressed a gathering at Pithakayari Shahid ground in Nirsa, located around 45 km away from the district headquarters.

While addressing the locals, Soren urged them not to be misguided by the false promises of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

The CM also called upon party workers to work hard so that the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) may emerge as a party with the majority.

Soren was in Nirsa to attend a Milan Samaroh organised by the party on the occasion of re-induction of former district president of BJP Ashok Mondal into the JMM.

With this move, the JMM gave a big jolt to the BJP, particularly in Nirsa area, which is considered to be Mondal's stronghold.

Referring to Mondal as an elder brother, Soren termed his re-induction into JMM as homecoming that would certainly strengthen the party in Nirsa.

The locality had also been the karmabhoomi (place of work) for JMM supremo Sibu Soren and now Mondal would continue the legacy of Guruji here, the chief minister said.

It is worth mentioning here that Mondal had left JMM in 2000, joined BJP and contested the assembly elections twice but lost.

Soren also announced that soon 40,000 youths would be getting employment, including 18,000 teachers.

The teachers would be given jobs by the first week of July, he added.

The chief minister announced that the domicile policy would soon be finalised.

On June 26, an all-party meeting has been convened to discuss the final draft of the policy.

He called upon the political parties to come with an open mind about the policy so that justice may be extended to the poor and original inhabitants of Jharkhand.

The CM also honoured the widows of some JMM leaders who had died during the Jharkhand movement.

Ashok Mondal, Tundi MLA MP Mahto and other senior leaders of the party also addressed the gathering.

Earlier, in Bokaro the CM mocked at the government at the Centre saying that the latter has hiked the railway fare steeply while promising to bring in good days for the people during the election campaign.

Soren was in Bokaro to hold a meeting with the district administrative officials.

He visited the house of his close associate, Sambhu Yadav, who lost his wife recently.

He also met people from various organisations at the circuit house.

"It is for all of us to see what steps the central government is taking. The poor people would be the most affected by the government decision," Soren said.

When asked about Congress state chief Sukhdeo Bhagat's public statement expressing dissatisfaction with his government, the CM said he did not know about it.

"I would not comment on media reports," he added.

Members of Bokaro Vyvsayik Plot Holder Welfare Association met the CM and alleged that the BSL management was demanding a huge amount for renewal of plots.

Members of Bokaro Mahila College and organisations representing the displaced people also met the CM.
