AJSU leader shoots two in Bokaro, one dead
Accused Ajay Singh on the run; brother, wife detained by police for interrogation
Former soccer player and central secretary of ruling AJSU party, Ajay Singh, allegedly opened fire on his acquaintances late on Wednesday night killing one on the spot while injuring the other.

Singh, who is also office-bearer in the district and state associations of archery, is on the run ever since and the police have picked his wife and brother for interrogation.
The incident took place on Street number 4 of Sector 9 under Harla police station in Bokaro.
Following the firing, Ajay’s friends Sunil Gupta was killed on the spot while Amlesh Singh alias Appu sustained injuries on his left thigh and is undergoing treatment at Bokaro General Hospital (BGH).
Ajay escaped after the shooting incident. Following the crime, police picked up Ajay’s wife Anjella Singh, an international fame archer, from her Bokaro residence. The raid team, led by deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Ajay Kumar, recovered one carbine, three country-made pistols and three dozen live cartridges from Ajay’s residence, police said.
“Raids are on at different locations to arrest the accused. Preliminary investigation suggests that the incident is outcome of a family dispute. We have also called Ajay’s father and other family members for questioning. Final picture will emerge when we corroborate statements of all family members,” Bokaro superintendent of police, Karti S, said.
Sources said Amlesh Singh, eyewitness of the murder, told the police in his statement that following some family dispute Anjella came to Amlesh’s house at around noon on Wednesday and narrated her woes to his family members.
“When Ajay came to know about it, he reached Amlesh’s house late in the night and asked Anjella to return home immediately. She refused stating he better allow her to go to her native place at Manipur. However, Ajay insisted her to return home first. Amid the discussion, Amlesh intervened and requested Ajay not to beat up Anjella when she returned home. This probably infuriated Ajay,” a police official said.
Sources said Ajay opened fire warning them of not interfering in his family matters. In the firing, Sunil Gupta, who was also present there, was killed on the spot while Amlesh sustained injuries in his thigh.
