Balkar Singh,an autorickshaw driver, claims he has been lying unattended at the Lord Mahavira Civil Hospital since Saturday night.

The victim,Balkar Singh, met with an accident near Bharat Nagar Chowk on Saturday night, and suffered injuries on his left leg, lips and jaw.

According to Balkar, despite being admitted for three days, only an orthopaedician came to examine him, while he was still waiting for a dentist to look at his injured jaw and lips. Besides, blood clots were not cleaned from his mouth, and he has been lying in pain.

Balkar, who is an auto-rickshaw driver and lives alone in the city, said a blood test and X-ray were done only on Tuesday, adding that though he had paid 450 for the tests, a paramedical staff had told him to pay again for tests.

“I have no money and I am in deep pain. I just want a doctor to stitch the wounds near my lips and lessen my pain,” Balkar rued.

Ramesh Srivastva, a social activist at the civil hospital, took the patient’s file to senior medical officer(SMO)incharge Dr Rajinder Gulati.

But till Tuesday evening, Balkar was not examined.Srivastva said there were many patients who came in pain, but remained unattended for one reason or the other. “The patients who have no attendant with them, suffer the most as they can’t fetch the doctor themselves,” he added.

When contacted, SMO Dr Rajinder Gulati said, “The patient’s complaint came to my notice on Tuesday and I called a surgeon and dentist to look after him. The patient will be attended to and treated well at the hospital.”
