“Even in villages, almost everyone who can afford is more than to keen to get CCTV cameras installed. They are either motivated by a neighbours or the increasing cases of theft. I have personally installed more than 50 cameras in the last three months in different villages,” says Dalwinderjit Singh, who runs a shop on Pakhowal Road.

Another CCTV camera shop owner from Dehlon, Paramjit Singh, adds, “In the past few months, I have received 8 to 10 inquires daily from villages and generally get two to three orders by end of the day.”

“Like others, I installed two CCTV cameras outside my home just three months back. Thanks to my relatives in Ludhiana who encouraged me to install them considering common cases of theft,” says Gurpreet Singh, a farmer from Gujjarwal.

Another farmer from Kupp village, Balwinder Singh, said, “I feel if there is any theft, CCTV cameras can play an important role in finding the culprit as footage can be helpful for cops.

Sharing is caring

There are some villagers who are sharing CCTV cameras in some villages because cost matters too.

“It costs a lot to install a good quality CCTV camera but I wanted to have it as everyone in the village started to install them. So, to lower cost, I approached a neighbour and got it installed at a common point where both homes could benefit,” says Parambir Kaur, a housewife from Gill village.

Parduman Singh from Narongwal village says,“I too share CCTV cameras with two of my neighbours. We have installed two and we divided the amount while buying.”
