PU affiliated colleges begin admissions
Colleges affiliated to Panjab University, Chandigarh, started the admission process on Thursday. Among government colleges, SCD Government College filled 137 of 140 seats in BCom first year with a cut off of 89%.

However, the Government College for Girls filled 105 seats against 140 in the first cut off list of 109.40%.
Talking to Hindustan Times, Rajinder Singh, principal of SCD Government College, said, “Like every year, we have received very good response for BCom and BA. We have 480 seats in BA and half of them were filled on Thursday. The cut off for BA is 74%. We will conduct admissions for BCA and BBA courses on Friday.”
Gurminder Kaur, principal of Government College for Girls, said, “I am happy that Panjab University has given us permission to make admissions in BBA second year. We will start the process on July 15. We filled 105 seats in BCom first year on Thursday. A total of 26 seats have been filled in BCA, whose cut off is 87.9%.”
Anoop Arora, a student, said, “I have got admission in BCom first year at SCD Government College, and it is like a dream come true. My score in Class 12 was 96%, so I was sure that I will get admission in this college.”
Ginni Joshi, a BCom aspirant at Government College for Girls, said, “I am disappointed as the cut off for BCom first year was so high. My name was not in the final list put on the notice board on Thursday. So I will try again tomorrow, and will try in another college if my name is still not on the list.”
Students who were not able to get admission in government colleges will now try in private colleges for admission to BCom.
Master Tara Singh Memorial College for Women has 140 seats in BCom first year, and on the first day, 50 seats were filled with a cut off of 90%. College principal Parveen Kaur Chawla confirmed that students had shown a lot of interest in BCom, adding that the college had started the admission process for BA, BBA and MCom as well.
GGN Khalsa College also put up the first cut off list for BCom with 94.5%, and filled 140 seats.
Arya College enrolled 100 students against 280 seats on the first day.
