Diwali is the festival everyone waits for eargerly. But with completion of this festival in November, a change in the weather has also occurred silently. This is affecting the health of citizens, including children and adults.

City doctors are worried as several cases of sickness, cough and cold have increased suddenly. Doctors advise that the silent change in the weather should not be ignored and taking no precaution in this season change can prove harmful.

It's time to pull out warm clothes. "If one gets infected with cold, we should avoid going close to them as cold spreads rapidly,"said Dr Harsimrat Singh, emergency medical officer at Guru Nanak Dev Hospital.

He added that, "We have to focus more on the prevention as handling cold is not easy while the weather changes."

Dr Jagdeepak, an ENT specialist said, "Cases of sickness are on the rise. The first and foremost precaution calls for change in our clothing. We have to start wearing winter garments. Parents must ensure that their children wear warm clothes as children mostly fall prey to such weather change."

Civil surgeon Yash Mitra said, "Cold dishes and liquids must be avoided and we must stay away from those suffering from cold as it is contagious. There is no definite medicine to get rid of this viral. Taking precautions is the only solution."
