Navjot Singh Sidhu slams Badals, Capt Amarinder fails to turn up
“It is ridiculous that Badals who did the maximum ‘jabar’ (repression) on the people of Punjab in past one decade are now complaining against ‘jabar’.”
As chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh failed to turn up at the Congress rally here on Monday, local bodies minister Navjot Singh Sidhu stole the show, ridiculing the Badals for launching the much-hyped ‘Jabar Virodhi Lehar.’

“It is ridiculous that Badals who did the maximum ‘jabar’ (repression) on the people of Punjab in past one decade are now complaining against ‘jabar’. Nau sau chuhe kha ke billi Haj nu challi,” he quipped while addressing the rally organised to mark the ‘Rakhar Punya.’
“People have not forgotten the ‘jabar’ done by Akalis over the past ten years. People still remember how a Punjab Police ASI was killed in Amritsar by Akalis just because he was trying to save his daughter. People also remember how Badals trampled over businessmen to promote their own business interests. They still remember how false cases were registered under the Akali regime.”

He also blamed former deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal for leaving behind a debt of Rs 3 lakh crore on the state exchequer.
Hits out at Majithia too
Lashing out at former minister Bikram Singh Majithia, Sidhu said, “Today if the Akali Dal has slipped to number 3 in Punjab, it is because of Majithia. If I am given the police department for one day, I will teach him a lesson.”
The minister announced to give the status of nagar panchayat to Baba Bakala, besides opening a polytechnic here. He also announced a grant of Rs 1 crore for development of the historic town.
Rural development and panchayats minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa, Amritsar MP Gurjeet Aujla and Congress MLAs from the Majha were also present on the occasion.
