Chiu stood sixth at state level in the AIPMT, which was conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on May 4.
Chiu, who passed out from Sacred Heart Convent School, Sarabha Nagar, had scored 94% in Class 12. He said, “I worked hard and remained consistent in my studies.”
A national-level table tennis player, Chiu aspires to be a scientist and had scored 650 out of 720 marks. “I will do my doctorate and will love to contribute as a researcher in the field of medicine,” said Chiu, who attributed his success to school, teachers and his parents. He said, “Along with self study, coaching also helps in major competitive exams as it provides platform for self evaluation".
Chiu has also scored 10th rank in the test conducted by the Christian Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana. However, he aims to score good in the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) entrance test, to get into the premier institute.
Puneet Kaur, also a student of Sacred Heart Convent School, Sarabha Nagar, scored all-India 34th rank in the AIPMT and stood ninth at the state level. She scored 645 out of 720. Puneet scored 96.8% in Class 12 and aspires to a doctor. He parents too are doctors. She too is keeping her fingers crossed for the AIIMS result.
