Ludhiana railway station will be developed as a model station, as proposed in this budget and for this the divisional railway manager (DRM), Ferozepur division, Anuj Prakash, has asked the local authorities to send him a proposal for the same.
DRM Anuj Prakash, who joined the office a week ago, visited the Ludhiana railway station for the first time on Saturday. Senior divisional security commandant, Railway Protection Force (RPF), Mohammad SZ Khan and senior divisional commercial manager (DCM) Roshan Singh accompanied him.
While talking to HT, the DRM said, “Ludhiana will be developed as a model station, as it was proposed in the budget. To do so, I have asked the divisional traffic manager (DTM) and station superintendent to submit me a report within three weeks. After that, the work will be initiated.”
But DRM didn't specify what exactly will be done to upgrade the Ludhiana station. He said that guidelines for the same are awaited, thus decision will be taken after getting all the guidelines.
During the visit, he instructed DTM SP Singh Bhatia and station superintendent (SS) RK Sharma to streamline the parking space. He said that there should be a lane for those who come just to drop their relatives so that no chaos may take place at the entrance point. He also instructed the officials to utilise the space at the station to advertise with the local agencies for revenue generation.
On being asked about installing escalators for the convenience of physically challenged or senior citizens, he said that this proposal would be taken on priority basis. He showed overall satisfaction with the working of Ludhiana station staffers.
