Inspired from Aamir’s Satyamev Jayate episode which was based on solid waste management, a group of MC officials held a discussion on various aspects with Aamir Khan at the deputy commissioner’s residence on Saturday evening.

In the episode, Aamir had talked as how people and civic body at Warangal in Andhra Pradesh managed and recycled solid waste. It has been learnt that Aamir shared his views on the smart city project too.

“We had a good half an hour discussion on various aspects, especially solid waste management, with the actor,” said MC additional commissioner Ghanshyam Thori.

“He assured us to meet the team involved in the smart city project by the next week and also shared his views on the needs of the city. He endorses the idea of ‘zero waste city’ wherein all waste is recycled so that landfills are not needed anymore,” Thori added.

“We wanted from him to give a slogan regarding cleanliness in city as more residents follow what their icon says,” MC commissioner GK Singh Dhaliwal said. He said they are also going to improve the solid waste management scenario in the city by setting up portable refuse compactor system at various dumps.

“After segregating the solid waste, it is used for different purposes such as carpeting of roads. The liquid waste is used to prepare bio-fertilizer, bio-fuel and feed for earthworms and ducks at Warangal,” a chemistry lecturer at Government Senior Secondary School said.
