With just two months left for the state to go to polls, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, attacked the Modi government’s demonetisation move claiming it was a scam of Rs 8 lakh crore at a rally in Samrala on Friday.

With no concrete evidence to base these figures on, Kejriwal played safe by attributing the figures of Rs 8 lakh crore on assessments made by an ‘officer at a high ranking post’ who has issued a statement. While he refused to name this officer, Kejriwal based his entire speech flaying the demonetisation move.

He said the entire ‘conspiracy’ involved a nexus between the government, the multimillionaires and the banks. Addressing a well-attended gathering, he said, “The multimillionaires have taken loan of Rs 8 lakh crore from banks but they have failed to pay these loans back. These people have taken a huge amount of money and run away,” he said.

He claimed that the Modi government has waived off a loan of Rs 1.14 lakh crore by the ‘rich and influential’ and wanted to waive off the remaining Rs 7 lakh crore.

“Modi ji ko kaala dhan door nahin karna, maksad kuch aur hai. Jitne paise bank mei jama karte hain, bankwale usey loan dete hain, Rs 8 lakh crore ka ameero ko loan de rakha tha, ameer log bhag gaye (Modi does not want to finish black money, his aim is something else. The rich and influential owed several crores to the banks, the government wanted to waive off the money and thus conspired to demonetise the notes so that banks are rich again.),” he said.

“Now that people are coming to the banks to deposit their money, the government is hoping that Rs 12 lakh crore will be collected by December 31 and then the remaining Rs 7 lakh crore will also be waived off,” he alleged.

He also assured that the persons who are responsible for the desecration of the Guru Granth Sahib and involved in the attack on Sikh preacher Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale will be arrested if their party comes to power in the state.

Congress protest against Kejriwal

Ex-AAP women wing leader Amandeep Kaur held a protest outside Dana Mandi where the rally was organised. She alleged that Kejriwal had deceived the people of Delhi and now he was doing the same with the people of Punjab. She alleged that women were not respected in this party.

“Kejriwal is a big liar. In Delhi, he said the Punjab water should be given to Haryana but here they are sitting on dharnas,” she said.
