“Every year, the MCI raised one or the other objections and we were always unsure if the seats will increase. However, this time, they did not raise any objection and gave the green signal for 100 seats,” said Dr Atul Sachdev, director, GMCH-32.

“This year, the inspection was done in October. We were waiting for the letter and received it on Tuesday. It is a relief for everybody,” added Dr Sachdev.

“Now, the MCI team will come again for a final exit inspection in November/December this year. If all goes well, GHMC-32 will be sanctioned 100 seats permanently,” he added.

Objections that have previously stalled the increase in seats has been low seating capacity in the library; small examination hall; inadequate space in two lecture theatres. Shortage of teaching faculty was shown at 41% and resident doctors were 46.66%.  This year, the NEET exam is scheduled for May 7 and the admissions will be completed by September 30.
