Similar electric pole in middle of the road at Basti Guzan cause traffic chaos and inviting mishaps to the commuters. Residents are demanding shifting of poleon the side of road for widening the road.

Sources said Improvement trust had managed to remove illegal encroached shops situated here to widen the road but failed to remove the electricity poledue to which problem remains same the road is still stiffed.

HT team noticed one such pole at the middle of link road between Basti Nau and Basti Danish Manda causing hindrance to the flow of traffic.

This pole is also resulting into temporary encroachments on road as the shopkeepers are using the space between poles and their shops for parking.

"This pole is erected in the middle of road and I am surprised why municipal authorities failed to remove them before laying the roads. We had requested to executive engineer as well as counselor Kuldeep Mintu to shift this pole but still there is no action," Aman Gill, a shopkeeper told HT.

The electricity pole on road are also becoming the cause of traffic jams and minor-collisions on the roads, said Gill, adding that, "if this will shift the bottlenecks would be cleared and traffic would flow more speedily."

HT enquiries revealed that the pole on road fall under the jurisdiction of Municipal Corporation.
