The admissions in bachelor of business administration (BBA) at Government College for Girls (GCG) will depend upon the revisit of affiliation committee from Panjab University, Chandigarh. GCG could provide admission to students in BBA only after the affiliation committee conducts inspection and gives green signal for it.
The college will start selling prospectus from June 9 in view of admissions that will start from July 07. Along with selling prospectus, college will have to think about fulfilling the norms for BBA affiliation. The college had introduced a BBA course two years ago, and this year it was supposed to get affiliation for BBA final year too.
In the first visit for the affiliation of BBA-3 year, the committee has recommended a few additions to the course that included books and faculty. The government college had added books to the course, but the appointment of one faculty member was still pending.
Only after the recruitment of a faculty member, college principal could send the compliance report to the varsity, which in turn would send its affiliation committee for inspection again.
College principal Gurminder Kaur said, "Students need not worry, as we will recruit the faculty soon and will invite the committee to re-visit for inspection. As the college has limited resources it becomes difficult at times to comply with the rules of university. Fee in government colleges is 30% lesser in every course as compared to other colleges, and even we have no additional resources, but still the rules that we need to fulfill are the same as for the private colleges, who have much more resources than us."
"This is not for the first time when the affiliation for any course is pending for the government colleges. The delay in affiliation will not be only college's loss, but to the students also, as being the pioneer college girl students prefer GCG, and the fee here is also lesser than other colleges," Kaur said.
