The monsoon is coming for you Pune: Kolhapur, Mahabaleshwar drenched in showers

Two days after the monsoon arrived in Konkan, it has now advanced towards Kolhapur as well as the well known hill station Mahabaleshwar which drenched in the showers.

Tourists were seen welcoming the rain, and frolicking in the first rains on the hill station. Most of the points were in dense fog and were a sight to see for as one of the tourist, Nikhil Kapshikar exclaimed, “It’s beautiful weather and practically like floating in the clouds.”

Local resident Suhas Mahableshwarkar explained that they had a good pre monsoon shower and the rains arrived on the dot as predicted. Usually Mahableshwar has rains beginning from 9th or 10th of June. The showers began on Saturday between 3.30 pm and 3.45 pm and with the weekend; Suhas feels that the hill station will see a lot of tourists coming to see the fog covered points.  According to Dr. Atul Kumar Sahai, Scientist, Project Director, Monsoon Mission, Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology and Head, Climate Research and Services, India Meteorological Department, “ The Southwest monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of central Arabian Sea, Konkan, interior Karnataka and some parts of Madhya Maharashtra.” 

 

Favourable conditions are developing for further advance of southwest monsoon into some more parts of central Arabian Sea, Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra, interior Karnataka and remaining parts of Rayalaseema, some parts of Telangana and some more parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh, central & north Bay of Bengal, Tripura, Assam and Meghalaya and some parts of West Bengal & Sikkim during next 2-3 days, according to IMD.
