Stone crusher owner booked for causing death of a worker in Pune
The police said that the owner was aware of the fact that the platform was not strong enough to hold six workers and deployed them on the platform despite knowing it.
The owner of a stone crusher working at a construction site in Raikarmala area of Dhayari was booked for causing the death of a worker. Five other workers were injured in the incident which happened on May 18.

The deceased was identified as Rama Sopan Gejage, 32, a resident of Bhangadewadi in Katraj area of Pune. The injured workers were identified as Milind Arjun Thombare, 32; Anishir Rehman Shaikh, 23; Datta Marjappa Talekari, 30; Kayappa Marjappa Shikapur, 30 and Parshuram Marjapa Talekari, 30, all residents of Khadi Machine area in Raikarmala, Dhayari.
The owner of the stone crusher who was booked was identified as Shivaji Dattatray Chakankar, a resident of Dhayari. The workers were working near the gear box of the stone crusher's engine. Chakankar deployed all the six workers on a platform on the stone crusher. The police said that the owner was aware of the fact that the platform was not strong enough to hold six workers and deployed them on the platform despite knowing it.
Gejage's death was recorded as an accidental death at Sinhagad road police station. DR Kolpe, police sub inspector of Sinhagad road police station, was investigating the accidental death report.
Subsequently, a case under Sections 304(a) (causing death due to negligence) and 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered against Chakankar at Sinhagad road police station.
