State extends RTE registration deadline to March 30

With 47,978 applications Pune has the highest number of applications in the state

The state education department has extended the deadline for the Right to Education (RTE) registrations, till March 30. Earlier the deadline was March 22. With 47,978 applications Pune has the highest number of applications in the state. For this year’s RTE admission, till now 2,13,274 applications have been received for 1,16,773 vacancies in the state.

Sunil Kurhade, Pune Zilla Parishad education officer said, “We have received a good response for the RTE admissions. Hence, we are extending the deadline. The technical issues related to filing the online application form have been resolved and if any parent is facing a problem, they can contact our state helpline number.”

Mukund Kirdat, spokesperson of Aam Adami parents union said, “It is a good thing that the deadline has been extended. However, the number of applications are still less. This year the RTE has not taken applications for nursery, junior KG and senior KG, which is an issue for the parents.”

Nilesh Joshi, who registered his ward for through RTE online process said, “Earlier this month, there were technical issues while filling the form, the issues have now been resolved.”
