“It is high time that strict action is taken against schools denying education to the students who need them the most. Hence, all the schools in the district who have denied admission will have to face strict repercussions, leading up to the cancellation of candidacy,” said Ganpat More, education officer, zilla parishad.
Under the primary education department of zilla parishad, a total of 933 schools in the Pune district had qualified in the first round to give admissions under RTE, with reservation of 25 per cent of its seats. 10,284 students had been selected to occupy these seats, however, some were denied admissions citing various reasons, including the lack of payment of reimbursements.
