Pune-invented game Roll Ball’s 24-hour, non-stop match sets Guinness World Record
The event took place in Belgavi, Karnataka, on May 18-19. The match started at 5pm and was played for the next 24 hours. A total of 309 players from all over India took part and kept the game alive by substituting at regular intervals.
The Roll Ball federation of India and the International roll ball federation, have been entered into the Guinness book of world records by playing the game continuously for 24 hours straight.

“An observer from the Guinness book of world records was present at the venue. Our efforts finally paid off as they acknowledged us and registered our unique record,” said Vineet Kuber, president, Roll ball federation of India.
Roll ball was invented by Pune-based Raju Dabhade in 2003 in Pune. This sport is now played in more than 50 different nations.
Normally, a roll ball match is played for 50 minutes, 25 minutes each half. Each team consists of five players, along with a goal tender. The Guinness record match was played for 24 hours and saw a total of 664 goals, with a 336-328 score.
“We were a little worried as we experienced heavy rain for three hour, but the players put in their best efforts for the record,” said Dabhade, the roll ball inventor.
Shreyas Bomble, Shruti Jadhav to captain state teams
Pune’s Shreyas Bomble and Thane’s Shruti Jadhav have been selected to lead the Maharashtra teams for the national roll ball under-17 championship to be held in Rajasthan from June 8.
