Post-GST, speed post service not available in Pune
Post offices still have to update the rates of various postal services in the city.
The speed post service of the Indian Post has been stopped in Pune on Monday. Following the implementation of the goods and services tax (GST), post offices have still to update the rates of various postal services.
Fayaz Sayyad, assistant postmaster general, said: “The rates are yet to be updated in only a few of the post offices. Majority of the post offices in the city are still working fine after the implementation of GST.” The unavailability of the speed post service is expected to create some concern in the city.
After the implementation of GST on July 1, rates of many postal services had to be changed. Several residents reported that they were told that the speed post service will not be working for next two-three days.
In many rural area service of courier is not available in such area speed post is only reliable option to many rural people.By giving reason of GST upgradation government can not stop famous Speed Post service.
Though postal officers told that Speed Post service is available to people but actual ground reality is very different.’’GST system upgradation will take 2-3 days more,all postal services will make available to people instruction was given by Sayyad to all postal staff.
