One state, one e-challan launched in Pune district

One state, one e-challan was launched on Thursday in Maharashtra with the state highway patrol issuing the first e-challan on the Yashwantrao Chavan Expressway at Talegaon toll plaza.
Digitised challans will be issued to traffic offenders through a single digital platform irrespective of the geographical location.
With Pune district going online, eight Maharashtra police centres were distributed 52 e-challan machines.
These centres are Khandala, Wadagaon, Sarola, Bhuinj, Karad, Ujalaiwadi, Baramati phata, Indapur.
Milind Mohite, superintendent of police, he said, “We want to highlight that strict action will be taken against those drivers cutting lanes and driving above the speed limit on the expressway. The instrument is connected to the traffic server as well as to the regional transport office which gives us access to not just the registered number, but also the make of the car, colour of the car and the number of penalties that the person has got against him or her. Motorists will have to register their vehicles on the MahatrafficApp to view and pay challans.”
Mohite added that e-challans will create better awareness among drivers and also reduce the number of accidents on the highways as motorists will be forced to follow traffic rules and regulations.
