A six-lane approach road from Warje to old Katraj village for the benefit of the proposed Shiv Shrushti project at Ambegaon has been sanctioned by Highway Authority of India.

Nitin Gadkari, union minister for road transport and highways, announced the decision in Pune on Saturday.
“The proposed flyover from Katraj chowk to Wagdaon has also been approved. The 1,340-m flyover will cost around ₹135 crore. Along with this, a six-lane approach road which will pass through Shiv Shrushti has also been approved. This will cost around ₹116 crore,” said Gadkari while speaking to media on the occasion of handing over a cheque of ₹5 crore to Shiv Shahir Babasaheb Purandare at Circuit House, Pune.
“When Maharaja Shiv Chhatrapati Pratishthan got the land in 1999, it was out of corporation limit. There was no settlement in the area. However, later as Pune city started expanding, the area got populated and much later Katraj bypass was built. The actual work of Shiv Shrushti began in 2006 and when 40 per cent of the work was completed, we approached Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi on April 10. We told him that thousands of tourists are expected to visit this huge project and it was necessary to have a wide approach road. We are happy that he quickly sanctioned our demand,” said Jagdish Kada, trustee of Pratishthan.
When asked about the details of the approach road, he said, “We have not received the exact details yet, but the instructions have been given to the highway authority by the minister that this road should be signal-free and should be wide enough to accommodate future traffic,” he added.
