A week ago, the school had reached out to parents in a moment of crisis after its bank accounts were frozen by the government as a result of the ongoing police investigation against DS Kulkarni (alias DSK). Despite the incident, the school had assured parents that the problems will be resolved by May 5. However, irked by the development, the parents’ committee had planned to issue a letter to the school and later escalate the matter to the education ministry.
The recent message from the school asking for fee submissions came as a silver lining.
A parent, on the condition of anonymity, said, “Many parents had not paid the fees and after the school accounts were frozen, the authorities had asked us to stop making payments until the issue was resolved. The new circular released by the school means that the problem might have been resolved. All parents have been given till May 12 to pay the fees.”
Manoj Kulkarni, a parent, was still apprehensive about the situation. “A lot of parents had been planning to deregister their children from the school following the DSK case. The school might be testing the waters now with the new circular to see how many parents are still interested in bringing back their children. The school has not clarified whether they have opened a new account or resolved the matter with the bank in court. Unless that is resolved, it is very difficult to say where we stand,” he said.
