New Zealand did the unthinkable and took a 1-0 lead in their three-match Test series in India by beating the hosts by eight wickets in Bengaluru. It is the first time since 1989 that New Zealand have managed to win a Test in India at the latter's home and the first time since 2005 that India have lost a match at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. The game was a thriller filled with extraordinary individual performances like player of the match Rachin Ravindra's century in the first innings and match-winning knock in the second. Here, we take a look at some of them. (PTI)

New Zealand's victory is pretty much rooted in what they did to India in the first innings. Fast bowlers Matt Henry and Will O'Rourke took nine wickets between them as India were all out for a record low score of 46. Henry, a familiar name to Indians due to his performance in the semi-final of the 2019 World Cup, finished the innings with figures of 5/15 in 13.2 overs.(AFP)

Will O'Rourke burst on the scene by taking nine wickets in his first Test earlier this year in South Africa. He finished the first Indian innings with figures of 4/22 in 12 overs. (PTI)

Rachin Ravindra powered New Zealand's innings with a masterful 134 in 157 balls. He hit 13 fours and four sixes in an innings in which he shifted between attack and defence almost effortlessly. Bengaluru is where Ravindra's family hails from, with his paternal grandparents still residents of the city, and he had scored a century in his first ODI here at the 2023 World Cup against Pakistan. He has now followed that up with a century in his first Test at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. It was Ravindr's second century in the 10 Tests that he has played for New Zealand. (PTI)
