India were clinical for much of the first ODI against England except in the end, by which point the match was pretty much done and dusted. India lost three very quick wickets which meant that their margin of victory was only four wickets, but the fact that they had nearly 11 overs to spare gives a better idea of just how dominant they were in Nagpur. England batted first and threw away a sensational start with some horrendous running between the wickets, which resulted in Phil Salt being out for 43 in 26 balls. That ended a 75-run opening stand between him and Ben Duckett which came in just 53 balls. (AFP)

England never managed to regain anything even close to the same momentum, with Duckett falling right after his opening partner. As was the case in the T20I series, captain Jos Buttler looked head and shoulders above his teammates as he scored 52 in 67 balls. He, however, fell to an innocous delivery from Axar Patel. Jacob Bethell struggled in his 59-run stand with Buttler which came in 87 balls but then found his feet and scored 51 in 64 balls. (PTI)

Bethell fell to Ravindra Jadeja in the 43rd over. Jadeja and debutant Harshit Rana took three wickets each. (BCCI - X)
