Eight workers have been trapped inside Telangana's Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel for more than 72 hours after a portion of the structure collapsed on Saturday morning. Rescue operations have been underway since, with no major breakthrough. (AFP)

Teams of the National Disaster Response Force, State Disaster Response Force, along with the assistance of dog squad and local authorities, have been engaged in the rescue operations aimed at bringing the trapped workers out of the SLBC tunnel.(AFP)

Telangana irrigation minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy along with state Minister for Tourism and Culture, Jupally Krishna Rao, was among several other key officials who visited the under-construction SLBC tunnel, a portion of which collapsed last week and trapped eight workers. (ANI)

In addition to the NDRF, SDRF personnel, a team of rat miners who successfully rescued trapped workers from Uttarakhand's Silkyara tunnel in 2023 also joined the rescue operations. Their expertise became a necessity as huge pile of debris blocked the way to reach those trapped in the SLBC tunnel.(PTI)

Telangana Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy also assessed the ongoing rescue efforts going on at Nagarkurnool's SLBC tunnel site. Top officials of the Congress government's Cabinet have been closely monitoring the situation, with one of the ministers saying that the chances of survival for the trapped workers was 'very very remote'.(PTI)

Human rescue operations at the SLBC tunnel collapse site have been underway for more than three days now. The teams have brought in equipments like endoscopic and robotic cameras to assist the rescue efforts. Officials said that the cameras were helping in determine what was going on in the tunnel.(PTI)

Hopes of the families of the eight trapped workers keep fluttering as each passing hour prompts further tension for rescuers as well. The trapped workers are Manoj Kumar and Sri Niwas from Uttar Pradesh, Sunny Singh (J&K), Gurpreet Singh (Punjab) and Sandeep Sahu, Jegta Xess, Santosh Sahu and Anuj Sahu, all from Jharkhand.(PTI)
