Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) on January 12. Also called the Atal Setu, the MTHL is the longest sea bridge constructed in India. Named after former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the bridge originates from Mumbai's Sewri and terminates at the Uran taluka in the Raigad district. (ANI)

The bridge is about 21.8 km long and has about 16.5 km length over sea and about 5.5 km on the land. The Maharashtra government has approved a proposal to charge ₹250 as a one-way toll for cars on MTHL.(ANI)

The entire project connected with the construction of the bridge cost ₹18,000. crore. The maximum speed limit for four-wheelers on MTHL is 100 kmph while motorbikes, autorickshaws and tractors would not be allowed on the bridge.(ANI)
Speaking about the speed limitations imposed on vehicles passing through MTHL a Mumbai Police official said, "The reason behind imposing a speed limit on India’s longest sea bridge is to curb danger, obstructions and inconvenience to the public",(ANI)

Meanwhile, multi-axle heavy vehicles, trucks and buses heading towards Mumbai won’t have an entry on the Eastern Freeway. These vehicles will have to use the Mumbai Port-Sewri Exit (Exit 1C). The bridge only has two access points to Navi Mumbai at present - one from Airoli-Mulund connector and the other from Vashi connector.(ANI)
