Many parts of Kashmir received their first snowfall of the season on Thursday morning. Hundreds of tourists staying in Gulmarg and Sonmarg woke up to a couple of inches of snow accumulation around their resorts due to light snowfall, while there was rainfall in other parts of the union territory. The MeT department, having predicted the rain and snowfall, had said the weather would improve in the "late hours". The dip in temperature was welcomed by locals gearing up for winter in warmer clothes. While upper reaches have received their first snow as predicted, the Srinagar MeT department also said “no snow is expected in plains during next 10 days".
